Chris slept pretty well last night and was able to get some much needed rest.

While waking up feeling rested, he was also feeling a bit anxious and what he described as bloated. Bleeding is always a possible complication with procedures like his biopsy, so we were a little concerned that he was feeling bloated even though he hadn't eaten in 36 hours.  After some initial discussion, the physicians decided that Chris should have some labs drawn. His hemoglobin came back as slightly below normal and he ended up getting an abdominal CT.

The CT showed some blood in the peritoneal cavity, but not enough to need immediate intervention.  His hemoglobin was monitored throughout the day, and because it was continuing to drop, the hospitalist and IR physician ordered a unit of blood for him.  He is currently receiving that unit, and based on how his following hemoglobin results are, they will determine if he needs an additional unit of blood. He will be monitored through the night and they will see if another CT is necessary to access the bleeding again tomorrow morning.

In addition to being monitored by the IR physician, a nephrologist was also consulted because of some elevated renal tests. So far, the nephrologist is just monitoring Chris and keeping an eye on his renal/ kidney function.

Lastly, we received some preliminary results from the biopsy that Chris had yesterday.  Based on initial findings from the biopsy and lab work that has been done over the last few days, the oncologist believes that Chris has a form of high grade lymphoma.  It appears to be quite aggressive, and as a result the oncologist is looking to try and expedite any further diagnostic tests so Chris can begin Chemo as soon as possible.

Chris is staying positive while still being a realist. We know the road ahead will be difficult, but we know it will be a little easier because of all your love and support.
